I Help Daddy Bale Hay

Look at me! I'm on top of one of the hay bales.

Wow! What a great time I had helping Daddy bale hay at Grandma and Grandpa's farm. Grandpa had already cut the hay, so it needed to be raked. I got to ride around with Daddy in his truck and we pulled the hay rake. The hay rake gets all the hay into nice, neat rows. We went round and round the fields. I was the look-out and made sure Dad was doing it right. Uncle Jim came over from his farm and drove the baler while Daddy and I raked. The hay bales were really, really big and Daddy was happy they turned out so pretty. When we were done raking, we watched Uncle Jim drive the baler and bale up the last of the hay. I ran around the fields and explored while they finished up the baling. I was very careful to stay away from that baler. Daddy said I am a really good farm dog. Isn't that nice! I love to help with chores on the farm.

When we were done, we checked on the cows. One of the cows had just given birth to a brand new baby. Some baby! She jumped up and was running around right away. My Mom took some pictures. Here is one of the momma cow and her new calf looking inside of Daddy's truck.

On the way home, we stopped for burgers. I was starving after all that work! Mmmmm, I love burgers. And fries. And ice cream. YUM!! The girls at Dairy Queen sure know their stuff. Then I curled up in Mom's lap for a nice nap on the drive home. What a perfect day, even if I did have to take a bath when we got home. I love to have adventures, but it's always nice to get back home.
